Popular with small groups and families our two bedroom self-contained family timber cabin features a large deck, BBQ, and an outdoor setting with stunning rural and mountain views. There is a comfy double bed in one bedroom and the second bunk room offers a double bed and a single bunk. The cozy living area features a kitchenette with full-sized fridge, couch and dining table with a smart TV and free wifi. 

ROSE KING BED CABIN

Our large premium king bed self-contained studio cabin is ideal for couples. It has a deck, BBQ and outdoor seating enjoying a truly beautiful view across the alpaca fields located next to the cabin with equally stunning forest and mountain views.  The living area features a kitchenette with full-sized fridge, dining table, a large super comfy chaise lounge which converts to a sofa bed, a new smart TV and free wifi enabling you to log into your own Netflix account or stay connected with family and friends. With advance notice your room can be configured with twin single beds. 

THE LODGE ONE BEDROOM

Our spacious one bedroom apartment, with queen bed, is situated in the Lodge main building with magnificent views across the gardens, the alpaca fields and the lush forest and Mt Field National park mountains beyond, which are snow capped in the winter. Fully self-contained with modern furnishings, a separate living room with a large chaise lounge which converts into a super comfy sofa bed, a new smart TV, free NBN wifi, and heating and cooling, this apartment is ideal for couples or a slightly larger group with the double sofa bed sleeping one adult or two young children.

Dreams2Live4  makes dreams come true for patients who are living with metastatic cancer (meaning any cancer which has spread). Their dreamers have had the devastating diagnosis of cancer, followed by the gut wrenching news that it has returned. Living with metastatic cancer can be an overwhelming and gruelling battle. Dreams2Live4 empowers these patients to dream and find purpose again. It is the only charity of its type in Australia for adult patients. Last year they worked with more than 450 patients and their families in hospitals across Australia.

Love Your Sister  founded by Gold Logie winning actor and Victorian Australian of the Year 2018, Samuel Johnson OAM, is a million-strong village of everyday Aussies committed to vanquishing cancer with hard science and the best new technologies. LYS supports personalised treatment for ALL cancer patients, whatever the cancer, regardless of location, income, or status. POLICIES & LOCAL INFORMATION

Food & Fuel


There are limited options for groceries, meals and petrol in Maydena and business hours vary depending on the season. From May to September and also due to the pandemic some local business' close or reduce trading hours. Below are food and fuel options to help you plan your trip to Maydena:

Groceries

  • There are no grocery stores in Maydena. If travelling from Hobart we recommend you purchase your groceries from one of the Hill Street Grocery stores. They are a Tasmanian institution selling the best of everything with incredible customer service. A true foodie heaven!

  • Other supermarket options include Woolworths in New Norfolk, or if you are coming from the West Coast shop in Queenstown or your last grocery option is the small IGA X-press supermarket in Ouse.

  • You can also buy delicious home-made style takeaway meals and treats most weekdays at Cheeky Little Place Cafe in New Norfolk, however please check that they are open.

Black Swan, New Norfolk

  • An unusual and marvellous specialist bookshop with coffee and treats. Their amazing books are sourced world-wide and they ignore anything other than brilliant.

Maydena Bike Park

  • Reopening 3rd October 2020 their licensed cafe serves coffee, breakfast and a small but tasty cafe menu until 7 pm Frid and Sat and 5 pm on all other days but check first in case they close early on quiet days.

  • Due to the pandemic their days vary as follows:

    • Part-time Frid through Mon outside school holidays with this being reviewed when the borders reopen.

    • 7 days per week only during the October school holidays and the summer school holidays from the 21st December.

  • You can also order pizza every Friday night up until 6pm throughout the year on 0487 487 797.

The Summit (operated by Maydena Bike Park)

  • The Summit cafe & bar perched 1,100 metres above sea level at the summit of the Maydena Bike Park offers stunning 360-degree views across the Styx Valley & Mt Field National Park. Only open during the summer months, they host a Saturday evening sunset BBQ with online bookings essential.

Waterfalls Cafe & Gallery

  • Located at Mount Field National Park Visitors Centre (8-minute drive from Maydena) and open 7 days per week. Breakfast from 9am till 11am and Lunch menu from 11am till 3pm.

National Park Hotel

  • A 10-minute drive from Maydena, this pub and bistro is only open part-time during the pandemic with bookings essential on (03) 6288 1103:

    • Bar: Thu & Fri 2 - 9 pm, Sat 12 - 9 pm, Sun 12 - 6 pm

    • Bistro Dinner: Thu to Sat (and Sundays during school holidays) 6 - 8 pm

    • Bistro Lunch: Sat & Sun 12 - 2 pm

Giants Table Pub Restaurant

  • A cafe restaurant located only a five-minute walk away. Currently closed until late 2020.

Maydena General Store

  • Opens most days from 9 to 5.30 pm selling basic ‘take away’ food and limited groceries. Closed Tuesdays.

Westerway Raspberry Farm

  • During the berry season (November to May) you can buy fresh punnets or pick your own delicious berries at their Farm Gate on your drive to Maydena.

The Agrarian Kitchen Eatery & Cooking School

  • This award winning, unpretentious, two-hat restaurant located in New Norfolk serves delicious local produce at a reasonable price. Due to the pandemic they are currently only open on the weekends with a small but fabulous takeaway menu or a bookings only sit-down set menu.

Stefano Lubiana Winery

  • Sample the 2018 International Wine Challenge's winner of "World's Best Biodynamic Wine", from their cellar door or enjoy a rustic Italian lunch with produce from their gardens. Between Hobart and New Norfolk on the road to Maydena.

Two Metre Tall Farmhouse Brewery Ale & Cider

  • On the outskirts of New Norfolk, on the way to Maydena, this brewery is producing some very unusual, unique and enjoyable beers and ciders crafted from local produce.

  • This entertaining video tells the story of the owners, from winemaker in France to one of the first craft beer brewers in Tasmania. Their cellar door is open part-time.

The Possum Shed

  • This little cafe on the river in Westerway is popular with locals and travellers alike. Another option for light lunches and cakes on your way to Maydena or back out to your next destination. Closed 12 October to 12th November.

Petrol

  • Is available in the town of Ouse until 6.45 pm and the Westerway Roadhouse until 5:00 pm.




Weather


Rapidly changing weather conditions can occur at any time of the year, even in the summer, so it is essential to be prepared for sun, rain, wind and even snow. If you visit during the summer months please bring a hat and sun protection and also be prepared for unseasonal cold changes. You can check the weather forecast online at www.bom.gov.au, but be aware the accuracy of these decrease for days farther from the present. Maydena annual climate average charts are also available online.

Booking Terms & Conditions


Please read these terms and conditions carefully as these conditions incorporate the basis on which bookings for Maydena Mountain Cabins are accepted. A payment constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions as follows:

Definitions

  • “Booking” means the period for which you have paid to stay at the property.

  • “Property” means Maydena Mountain Cabins and all its fixtures, fittings and equipment.

  • “Management” means the owners and managers of the property.

  • "Guests" means the persons who stay on the property during the booking.

Payment

  • A 25% deposit of the full tariff is required to secure and confirm your booking and must be paid within 24 hours.

  • A payment constitutes acceptance of the booking Terms & Conditions.

  • The balance of payment must be received at least 28 days prior to the arrival date (or as indicated in your booking details).

  • For bookings made inside 28 days prior to check-in, full payment is required at time of booking.

  • If a deposit or final payment is not received by the due date, Maydena Mountain Cabins reserves the right to cancel the booking.

  • Children aged 13 years and older are charged at adult prices.

  • Payments are accepted by Visa or MasterCard.

  • Credit card payments incur a variable surcharge.

  • All payments are only accepted in Australian dollars.

  • Payments can be accepted via Direct Deposit.

  • Rates quoted are in Australian dollars and are subject to change at any time prior to payment.

  • Any quote given is an estimate only of price, which will be subject to a written advice on confirmation of the booking.

  • Minimum length of stay restrictions may apply to certain promotions.

Check In

  • Check In starts at 2.30 pm and ends at 7.00 pm.

  • Please contact us upon arrival on 0427 833 814 as we do not have a reception desk.

  • Photo identification (passport or Australian driver’s licence) and a valid credit card are required to check in.

Check Out

  • Check Out time is no later than 10:00 am.

  • Please leave the property clean and tidy or you will be charged a $50.00 cleaning fee. Thoroughly:

    • Clean the BBQ if used.

    • Wash your dishes and leave them out clean on the dishrack.

    • Place rubbish in the bins provided.

  • Please close the doors and windows, switch off electric blankets, the heating/cooling unit and the lights when you depart.

Cancellation Policy

If you have to cancel your reservation due to COVID-19 related travel restrictions or your doctor provides a medical certificate stating you are unable to travel due to a COVID-19 infection, we will allow you to choose a credit or refund of any moneys paid. Otherwise the following cancellation fees will apply to the total booking fee:

  • 10% administration fee if cancelled more than 28 days prior to booking arrival date.

  • 50% of total tariff payable if cancelled 28 days or less prior to booking arrival date.

  • 100% of total tariff payable if cancelled 14 days or less prior to booking arrival date.

  • If management is able to rebook your cancelled accommodation for the full period of your reservation, we will refund your payment in full less a 10% administration charge.

  • Cancellations or booking variations must be notified by email to bookings@maydenacabins.com.au.

  • No refund will be given for non-arrival, any unused services or unused services due to flight / weather disruption.

  • We expect all our customers to purchase travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances.

  • A variation of the booking which reduces the number of nights stay or guests will be a treated as a cancellation of the booking in respect of those nights.

  • The number of guests must not exceed the number stated on the booking confirmation notice or additional extra person charges will apply.

  • No refund will be made for a variation that breaches a minimum nights’ stay booking policy.

  • Bookings may be transferred to another guest with prior written approval from management.

  • Rates are subject to change without notice.

Our Alpaca Family

  • We have four adorable alpacas who live in a fenced off area near the cabins. You are very welcome to join us during their morning feed, however at all other times please do not enter their enclosure.

Other Policies

For the comfort and safety of all guests please note:

  • Strictly no shoes inside, socks rule!

  • Children must be accompanied and properly supervised at all times.

  • No pets are allowed.

  • Please consider other guests and keep noise down between 10.00 pm and 7.00 am.

  • Smoking and open flames eg candles are strictly not permitted in the buildings. Breach of this condition will result in an immediate eviction and an additional $300 fee.

  • We are a 'guests only' property and request that no visitors be invited to the property unless by prior arrangement with management.

  • Damage, breakages, theft and losses are the guest's responsibility during their stay and as such will be charged for any damage or loss caused.

  • Management is not responsible for personal belongings and valuables left anywhere on the property.

  • If you care to share, we appreciate all feedback including what you enjoyed the most during your stay or what we could have done better.

Privacy Information

  • You consent and authorise Maydena Mountain Cabins to collect, use and disclose your personal information for the purposes of administering your booking and providing you with any services associated with your booking.

  • Maydena Mountain Cabins will not provide or disclose any information you have provided to Maydena Mountain Cabins to any person without your prior written consent, except to the extent required to administer your booking and providing you with any services associated with your booking.

Indemnity and Limitation of Liability

  • To the extent permitted by the law, you agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless, Maydena Mountain Cabins and its current and former officers, employees, contractors, sub-contractors/consultants (including their respective employees and contractors) and agents against, from and in respect of all expenses, costs, liabilities, claims, actions, proceedings, damages, judgments and losses of any kind whatsoever (including but not limited to consequential and economic losses, property loss/damage and damages for injury, including personal injury and death) arising out of, caused by, attributable to or resulting from your booking or your stay at the property except to the extent such expense, cost, liability, claim, action, proceeding, damage, judgment or loss arose out of, was caused by, attributable to or resulted from Maydena Mountain Cabins' negligence, wrongful act/omission or breach of these terms and conditions.

  • To the extent permitted by law the aggregate of Maydena Mountain Cabins ' liability to you is limited to an amount not exceeding the amount paid by you for your booking.

  • Each indemnity in these terms and conditions is a continuing and independent obligation and survives the termination or expiry of these terms and conditions.

Australian Consumer Law

  • To the extent permitted by law, all conditions, warranties, guarantees, rights, remedies, liabilities and other terms implied or conferred by statute, custom or the general law that impose any liability or obligation on Maydena Mountain Cabins are excluded under these terms and conditions.

  • Nothing contained in these terms and conditions excludes, restricts or modifies the application of any provision, the exercise of any right or remedy, or the imposition of any liability under the Australian Consumer Law or under any international consumer protection legislation, provided that, to the extent that such law permits Maydena Mountain Cabins to limit its liability, then Maydena Mountain Cabins ' liability is limited to:

    • in the case of services, supplying the services again or payment of the cost of having the services supplied again; and

    • in the case of goods, replacing the goods, supplying equivalent goods or repairing the goods, or payment of the cost of replacing the goods, supplying equivalent goods or having the goods repaired.
